Firefly

Posted on 2005-05-31 at 08:02

I've started re-watching Firefly. Man, that show was some good SciFi. What a shame it's off the air. I can't wait for the movie. I hope it goes gangbusters just to spite Fox for taking the show off the air!

Memorial Day weekend

Posted on 2005-05-31 at 08:01

All went well. I visited Dr. and Mrs. Kessler (who mentioned that they'd seen my blog!), finished upgrading Meghan's computer to Ubuntu Linux, played some D&D, and took Delaney to breakfast. I also chilled out a great deal.

Voyager has passed the Termination Shock!!!!

Posted on 2005-05-25 at 08:01

According to some sources, Voyager has passed through the Termination Shock. This is significant in that it is the very first time that we humans have knowingly pushed something man-made out of our own tiny solar system and into the wider universe. We should be proud.

Listerine and Gonorrhea

Posted on 2005-05-19 at 08:02

Freakonomics is a book about incentive and correlation. What does a school teacher and a sumo wrestler have in common? How about a real estate agent and the KKK? Let this book walk you through the dark underbelly of statistics. You'll love it. I did. Besides, I know you are dying to discover the connection between Listerine and gonorrhea!

Flooring hit

The last job caused us some problems. Todd ain't happy. The painters screwed us by trying to work in the same room at the same time. Now we look like it was our fault that it took twice as long. Oh well.

My reading thirst shall be quenched

Posted on 2005-05-12 at 08:03

I subscribed to Writer's Digest, Poet's & Writers Magazine, and the Linux Journal. I plan on adding 2600 soon. I want to write for a living, but if you've been reading this blog for any length of time you already know that.

Stupid Arrogant Flies

Posted on 2005-05-12 at 08:02

A fly got into the house yesterday and now it's flying around flaunting its fly-y superiority in my face. It wants to make me look stupid, so it hovers about mocking me until I find myself standing in a dead silent room holding a neatly folded Heartland catalog waiting for that arrogant buzzing taunt with blood in my eyes. Stupid fly.

Time for a VWC visit

Posted on 2005-05-12 at 08:01

Been a few months (almost a year?) since I've seen the old professors (y profesoras!). I should take some time soon to get down there. After this month is over, I'll do just that.

Netflix Fu

Posted on 2005-05-10 at 08:01

So, I'm in the Netflix tribe now and I love it so far. It's great for feeding your bizarre interests (no, not THAT kind of bizarre, perv!). I have added a ton of Kung Fu training videos to my Netlix list. I'm gonna use them for exercise. I can't wait to get the first one: Shaolin Basic Skills. I'm a freak. ...everybody was kung fu fighting...

Bill Gates has spent US$150 Million Dollars on a new search engine project, for which they've chosen the screamingly ironic code name "Underdog".

Bryan put our characters online. Rury is mine. This pleases me. I'll allow him to live another few months in reward for his obedience.

The data load guy is Chinese

Yet another person in the office whose native language I know just enough to butcher. :) Cool. Maybe he'll speak some Chinese with me so I can learn a little something.

The data load guy is here

Posted on 2005-05-04 at 08:01

The guy Cardinal hired to do the data loads starts today. I'll be glad to get the data loads off my plate and get back to real programming. Still, I can't shake the feeling that the end is near. I'd like just more more big payout (maybe a small 4 man team or something) to drop the remainder of the mortgage first, but I doubt that'll happen now. Oh well.
